FAQ
Laser igniter is a compact high-power laser system engineered for remote and controlled ignition applications. It prioritizes effective operating range, intuitive control mechanisms, and rugged field usability over the basic functionality of ordinary handheld laser devices.
The effective ignition distance **depends mainly on laser power, focusing lens configuration, target flammability, and ambient conditions**. They fall into two core categories: **handheld portable consumer models** and **heavy-duty industrial remote ignition units**.
1. Handheld Portable Laser Igniters (Camping/Hobby Use, 50W–120W)
Without focusing lens (wide unfocused beam)
- 80W model: ignition distance within 0.5-1.5 meters without lens, 5–6 meters with lens.
- 120W model: ignition distance within 2-2.5 meters without lens, 10–15 meters with lens.
- 260W model : ignition distance within 3 meters without lens, 30 meters with lens.
2. Industrial Professional Remote Laser Igniters (Chemical/Oil/Gas Emergency)
These are fixed/mountable high-power fiber laser systems for hazardous gas vent ignition:- Standard industrial unit: **≥50 meters** effective safe ignition distance- Extra high-power 1000W industrial grade: calibrated effective range up to nearly 100 meters for gas cloud combustion
Select your solution based on whether your application requires long-distance outdoor thermal transmission or controlled stationary processing.
- Identify Core Application: Ignition or Material Processing
First clarify your primary task. Opt for the 1000W long-range ignition solution if you need remote ignition for target combustion, power line clearance, or prescribed controlled burning of vegetation. Choose the 120W or 500W compact cannon-style system for stationary engraving, CNC machine integration, or laboratory-scale cutting applications. - Compare Optical Power and Beam Divergence Requirements
System selection should be determined by required energy density rather than raw power. Handheld units are optimized for portability and rapid pulsed emission, while cannon-style systems feature a rugged active cooling architecture to deliver extended runtime and continuous duty cycles. - Evaluate On-site Portability and Power Supply Configuration
Take workspace constraints into consideration. Field operations call for battery-powered handheld devices housed in heavy-duty portable cases. Laboratory or workshop integration requires stationary chassis powered by regulated DC power supplies, complete with integrated safety interlock circuits.
The 100W laser igniter is the model most players choose to start with. It is highly portable, has low maintenance costs, and can be upgraded later with 20x or 50x lenses to achieve a longer ignition distance (15 meters). Open the 100W laser page
Operating Class IV laser systems requires strict adherence to international safety protocols. All Portable Laser Tech systems feature physical safety locks and remote interlock loops. For detailed guidelines, please refer to the following official resources:
- FDA CDRH Compliance: High-power laser equipment imported into or sold within the United States must comply with the Center for Devices and Radiological Health rules under 21 CFR 1040.10 & 1040.11.
- ANSI Z136.1 Standards: Read the American National Standards Institute regulations for the safe use of lasers, Nominal Hazard Zones (NHZ), and eyewear selection at ANSI Laser Safety Guidelines.
- OSHA Regulations: Verify occupational safety standards and laser hazard control procedures outlined in the OSHA Technical Manual (OTM) Section III Chapter 6.
